A KEY road leading to Brunel University London and Hillingdon Hospital is due to reopen this evening after being closed for several days due to burst water mains. Kingston Lane in Uxbridge has been shut since Saturday with diversion signs leading motorists to alternative routes, adding several minutes to their journeys. Several bus routes that stop by the university have been diverted via Cleveland Road. A spokesperson for Affinity Water thanked customers and road users for their patience and told The Hillingdon Herald today in a statement: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by a burst on our water mains on Saturday 20 November in Kingston Lane, Uxbridge. "Our technicians arrived on site within 30 minutes after the first report of the burst. Our technicians identified two water mains that required emergency repairs, which were completed on the same day. During this time, we adjusted our network to keep supplies running to homes and no one was without a water supply."

The water company spokesperson added: “The burst caused consequential damage to the road, which was restored on Tuesday evening. Our teams are currently on site making sure the road is clear and safe before it is re-opened, which should be by 6pm this evening."

The work should be completed today (Wednesday), according to the water company. Picture: Yuli Lu
