Last night, two of our reporters, Julie Agha and Ryan Leonard, attended the election count in neighbouring Ealing. Unlike Hillingdon, the count was carried out overnight.

Ealing’s Labour council group experienced a significant loss, as many of its seats swung to the Liberal Democrats, Greens and even an independent candidate. Although the borough remains majority Labour, the losing councillors were visibly agitated receiving the results throughout the night.

Labour ended the night with 46 seats, down 13; the Lib Dems gained seven seats and are now at 13; the Greens went from zero to five; and there was one new independent candidate elected.
